DIN EN ISO 80601-2-55 is the international standard for the basic safety and essential performance
of respiratory gas monitors. It defines acceptable cross-sensitivity limits for other gases commonly
present in clinical breathing circuits, including nitrous oxide (N2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), water
vapour, and halogenated anaesthetic agents such as halothane, isoflurane, sevoflurane, and
desflurane. NRC oxygen cells are characterised against these limits, ensuring accurate readings in
real clinical gas mixtures. Specific interference values are stated on each product datasheet.
