Single-acting (SA) boosts gas on one stroke only (the forward stroke). Simpler, more compact.
Double-acting (DA) boosts gas on both the forward and return strokes, delivering roughly twice the flow rate under the same conditions, while also requiring less drive air pressure since the inlet gas pressure assists the drive in both directions.
Choose SA for low-flow testing or small fills. Choose DA when flow rate matters and pressure is not extreme.
